HAIR TRANSPLANTATION

Hair loss is no longer a problem if you are in reliable hands.

We must understand well whatever factors determine baldness, and the difference between baldness and hair loss.

If it is a physiological loss, which happens when the seasons change or other various factors, such as genetics or hormones.

Hair is grown from a root called the bulb (also known as a follicular unit). A healthy bulb can produce 1 to 4 hairs (on average 2.5).

An enzyme called 5α-Reductasis catalyzes the formation of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) from testosterone. When the hormone DHT comes in contact with the bulbs on the scalp, usually on the temples and on the vertex (the area can vary from subject to subject) and penetrates through receptors inside the follicular units, it causes the progressive narrowing, reducing the thickness and length of the hair and soon the hairs completely stop growing on some parts of the head. This is the most common kind of hair loss. The official medical term for the condition is ''androgenetic alopecia''. The Latin word alopecia means loss of hair or baldness. This does not depend on an excess of androgenetic hormones, but on the greater sensitivity of the hair to these hormones.

This condition affects 95% of people, mostly males and rarely in females.

A male type loss of hair consists in the progressive thinning of the hair, to the point of causing its lack of growth. For a genetic reason, fortunately, some bulbs in the parietal and occipital areas are immune to DHT, because they do not have the receptors of this hormone. This is why the area in which these bulbs are found is called 'safe area' or 'donate area'.

THE HEALING PROCESS AFTER THE SURGERY

You are required not to wash your hair after the surgery.

  • 3 days after surgery: you can wash your hair for the first time (crusts will form after the procedure and they will start to fall off within 3 to 5 days)
  • 5 days after surgery: the use of prescribed antibiotics is terminated.
  • 10 Days after surgery: the healing process is completed.
  • 15 days after surgery: the crusts will naturally fall off within 2 weeks.
  • 3 Weeks later: it is normal for the transplanted hair to fall out (approximately 2-3 weeks) after the procedure.
  • 8-12 Weeks later: new hair growth will start.
  • After 6 to 8 months: all the hair growth will be completed and you can get a haircut.
